Robert E. “Bob” Meek, 90, passed away peacefully in Pueblo, Colorado on December 10, 2024. Bob was born on October 3, 1934, in Trinidad, Colorado, and lived the majority of his life in Pueblo.
Bob grew up in several small mining towns surrounding Trinidad. He graduated from Trinidad High School (1953) and attended Trinidad Junior College. In late 1954, Bob joined the Air Force and served his country for 4 years.
Upon discharge from the Air Force, he immediately went to work for Retail Credit Company (now Equifax Inc) and remained with the company for over 40 years until his retirement. Bob was a Field Investigator which had him out and about, talking to and interviewing people throughout Pueblo and the surrounding communities. His ability to relate to every walk of life allowed him to have success in his job. Bob always had a big smile on his face, was easy to share a laugh, and would never be caught without a pen in his shirt front pocket.
During retirement, Bob enjoyed connecting with two sets of “coffee buddies” at two different Loaf ‘N Jugs in town – one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Family was known to call him at the Loaf ‘N Jug since he didn’t own a cell phone!
Bob also enjoyed following the Nuggets, Broncos, and Rockies. He was elated when the Nuggets won the NBA Championship in 2023 and was excited for the future of the Broncos with their new franchise QB. He didn’t hold out much hope for the Rockies.
Bob is survived by his children: Diana Smith (CJ), Cheryl Willey (Christian Hernandez), and Robert A. Meek (Melinda). He is also survived by four grandchildren – Brandon Shafer (Jennifer), Max Willey, Rachel Meek, and Hannah Meek – and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Shafer and Emily Shafer.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert M. Meek and Laura Meek; his brother and sister-in-law, John “Roger” Meek and Mollie Meek; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Olson; and his former wife, Ruth Brooks, who passed away in October 2024.
The family would like to thank the many special caregivers that supported Bob during his final few months at The Center at Park West as well as the team from Centercare Hospice. Special thanks to Bob’s personal caretaker the past four years, Daniel Muniz. Daniel’s energy and friendship made an incredible impact on Bob’s quality of life these last few years.
Bob will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Online condolences at www.MontgomerySteward.com
