Moses B. Shields, 89, passed away peacefully on the 13th of August 2024. He is survived by his brother, Johnny Shields of Hanford CA; son, Richard Shields of Fowler CO; daughters, Diane (Frank) May and Virginia (Greg) McCain of Pueblo CO; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Luther (Rosemary) Williams of Pueblo CO; sister-in-law, Velma Jean Magee of Highlands Ranch CO; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois E (Williams) Shields; parents, Lloyd L Shields and Wilma P (Fansher) Shields; brother, Lloyd O Shields; sisters, Frances Penrose, Wilma Tilbury, Susie White, Laura Keel; and daughter-in-law, Marla Shields.
Moses was born in Canyon City, CO on the 15th of September 1934. After graduating from high school, Moses served as a fireman aboard the Navy aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge, during the Korean War. Following the birth of his three children, Moses was baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ. Moses spent his career as a civilian employee of the Department of the Army. His 35-year career was spent building and inspecting guiding systems for military missiles.
Throughout his life, Moses enjoyed music and a nice crisp Pepsi-Cola. Moses also enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, playing cards with friends, and square dancing for many years. He was an avid coin collector. Moses had a great sense of humor and took delight in harmless pranks.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24th 2024, at 11a.m. in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau of Sharmar Village, and Sangre De Cristo Hospice for their loving care of Moses.
