Maria “Elsa” Bond Gade, 89, of Pueblo, CO, passed away on August 1, 2023. Elsa was born March 28, 1934 in Victoria, Mexico to Zenaida Villareal and Carlos Martinez Vargas. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her first husband of 36 years Glen Bond and second husband of 27 years Donald Gade. Elsa is survived by her sisters Alma Graciela Martinez Villarreal and Rosa Maria Martinez Villarreal, only daughter Suzanne (Will) Bratina, 2 grandsons, Anthony (Alyssa) Bratina and Timothy Bratina, stepson Steve Gade and family and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Although born in Mexico, Elsa moved to Colorado when she married Glen. She mastered English quickly and soon became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Elsa loved to read true crime stories, watch movies, watch ice skating, collect antiques, and write poetry. She loved all animals but mostly her beloved chihuahuas. She was also an excellent cook. Elsa was an amazing classical pianist, playing Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart by memory. A memorial service will take place on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 10 am at Fellowship of the Rockies.
