Margaret Ann (Margie) Mastrini, 88, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025, in her Pueblo home surrounded by family. She is survived by her son, Mark (Denise) Mastrini, son-in-law, Patrick (Michelle) McAteer, grandchildren Caitlin, Claire, Giovanni, and Isabella, sister-in-law Jerry (Jim) Mastrini, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Michelle, brothers Don and Bob (Tess) Arburn, and parents Darwin and Ethel Arburn. Born on June 18, 1936, in Pueblo, Margie was a proud Bulldog and an accomplished community member committed to service. She was crowned Ms. Centennial 1954, Snow Queen 1955, and Job’s Daughters’ Queen 1953. As a student, Margie loved participating in organizations where she could make loving and lasting memories with her darling friends. Margie Arburn met George Mastrini in elementary school, where they were childhood sweethearts who blossomed into a lifelong love affair. The couple married in 1956 and were together 21 years before George’s passing in 1977. She never remarried. A dedicated educator, she earned her master’s degree in childhood education and devoted 27+ years to teaching elementary school students at Belmont, Spann, and Parkview; her students were her world. Her commitment to Pueblo extended beyond the classroom—she was an active volunteer with Centennial High School, where she led many fundraising efforts and worked tirelessly on behalf of the Centennial Foundation and museum. Margie was involved in PEO for 50+ years where she was a past president and member of the CI Chapter, member of the Rosemount Auxiliary, Junior League, and many other groups affiliated with education. Margie was devoted to God and a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. Her dedication was recognized with many accolades, including the Lifetime Teaching Certificate and her induction into the Centennial Hall of Fame. Her favorite form of recognition was from former students — she beamed with pride at their admiration. Margie found joy in crafting with her grandchildren, spending time with her many dear friends, and caring for her beloved dogs. Her warmth, generosity, and steadfast devotion to family and community will be deeply missed by many. Her service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, Margie requested donations be made to the Centennial High School Foundation scholarship fund. Alternatively, please donate to a charity of your choice in her memory.

  1. My hero, my Angel on Earth and now in heaven. I find peace that I told you often how much you ment to me and how you truly molded me to a better path. Mrs. Margie Mastrini was my 4th grade Teacher at Spann Elementary in the late 80’s and remained my mentor, friend and confidant up until God took her home. Attending the important stages of my life physically but also emotionally when I lived away in Oregon. If I never had her guidance at pivotal times in my life I’m not sure I could have made it this far successfully. As so many have stated she is the definition of a Phenomenal Human, and had the ability to make everyone she met feel special. Heaven has increased in its glory now that she takes care and of us all from above. If Margie ever was a friend of yours we are all connected now, because of her the impression and imprint she blessed upon us. Her influence is that great that any of us,that she graced her presence with, we are forever connected with the positive influence and remarkable energy her impression left upon each of us. To her loving Family thank you for sharing her with all of us. She spoke of you often and loved you deeply and so proud of so many of you. Mark you are an amazing son. Her grandchildren you made her proud. I find peace with her in Heaven reunification with her beloved Husband, daughter and mother. The reunion they are having makes my heart so very happy and eases the realization of no more Pantry brunches, or candle making, no more laps of walking or sticker rewards, no more book reports or discussions no more words to live by. “I am lovable and capable.”
    “A leader of tomorrow”
“I have to Listen to Learn”
Now she watches over all of us, we have one on our side sitting next to Jesus. Rest in Peace my Dearest Beautiful Friend. You’ll forever remain a part of me. Thank you for being so much to so many. I love you forever.

  2. Mark and family I was so sad to hear of your mom’s passing, she was such a special lady. She put up with mine and Michelle’s shenanigans during our high school days. She definitely will always hold a special place in my heart. I will be out of state the of her service but I will definitely be thinking about her and the the family.

  3. CandleImageIt is with deep gratitude and respect that I remember Marge Mastrini—a true and unwavering champion of Centennial High School, the Centennial Foundation, and the Centennial Museum. Her love for our school was boundless, and her dedication never wavered.

Marge’s passion for preserving and celebrating Centennial’s legacy was evident in everything she did. Through her tireless work with the Foundation and Museum, she ensured that our history remained alive, vibrant, and honored for generations to come. Her commitment was not just about the past—it was about building a future rooted in pride and tradition.

On a personal level, Marge was instrumental in my success as a principal. Her wisdom, support, and steadfast belief in our school and its people made an immeasurable impact. She was a mentor, a friend, and above all, a genuine, authentic Bulldog.

  4. CandleImageNot only was Marge a role model for many, she served as my mentor my first year of teaching at Spann Elementary. She was a dear family friend. I remember our families often would get together and go fishing. George and my dad were the best of friends. We will miss you sweet Marge! The Terri and LeeRoy Martinez families.

  5. What a super lady!! She made so many people feel happy by being around her. She will certainly be missed in the Centennial HS family and along with the Pueblo community.
    RIP, special lady

  6. Margie was our Fellowship of Christian Athletes Secretary for over 30 years! She was a tireless servant with a sweet spirit! Proverbs talks about an excellent woman, God might as well have put Margie’s picture there!

    Prayers for the Mastrini Family.

    Godspeed,

    Kirk and Paula Kochenberger

  7. Mrs. Mastrini taught me that school can be fun and she made it fun. She has always been my favorite teacher. The only teacher I invited to my high school graduation. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends. I have nothing but good memories of Mrs. Mastrini may she rest in peace.

  10. CandleImageMrs. Mastrini was a light in the world. She was my fourth grade teacher and remained a role model since. She gave the love of books to so many of us. So much love and appreciation to such a wonderful soul. May she rest in love and peace

  11. The Centennial museum in the now non-existent Centennial would not have been possible without Marge’s help and guidance throughout all those years. She was there day in and day out working, collecting, arranging, caring, filing and loving every minute. She was such a capable person and such a wonderful friend not only of mine but many, many others. There were all the other activities I shared with her relating to Centennial.

Rest in Peace, Marge! Pattee (Kenyon) Williams
