  1. Mr.Joyal was my clarinet teacher at corwin. I practiced hard to be first chair in band. He was such a wonderful teacher, and supported and encouraged me to have a opening solo in our band performance, The House of the Rising Sun.
    I will never forget him

  2. CandleImageRandy and Brandon, I had the opportunity to know your parents when they used to come in to the ceramic shop and then when I was substituting at Corwin. I will never forget one day I was quietly grading paper during my planning period and can snuck in, and proceeded to crash the symbols as loud as he could and I shot out of the chair like a rocket. Your dad was laughing so hard and I will never forget that! I also had the opportunity to substitute for him a few times at Corwin. I always loved leaving him written notes as to what we accomplished, and I always tried to put some humor in there. I certainly enjoyed both of your parents and your father and mother touched many lives through their teaching. Their legacy will live on through those that walked along their path. My sister and I enjoyed them immensely. My most sincere condolences.

I was part of the Pueblo Youth Symphony Orchestra solely because of this great man. Mr Joyal, you were the best! Just a few weeks ago, I popped into my mind, and I wanted to locate you, just didn’t know how.
Well, now I do. Rest in musical heaven, im sure God is going to use you for all the music đź’š

  6. CandleImageI enjoyed teaching in D60 with Ken & Lana & were friends for over 40 years. He was such a talented musician…, piano, organ, French Horn, guitar, voice….but he also knew how to teach all instruments & was very good at arranging music. He & Lana were very caring & generous people. I know they are happy, pain free & enjoying friends & family with laughter & love. Rest in peace dear friend❤️

  8. CandleImageIn 1972, I arrived at East High School as a sophomore class student to find a new Choir Director. It was Ken Joyal.
Although his tenure at East was short (just the 72-73 school year), he was an inspiration, a good mentor, and a friend. His talent was amazing and on display regularly as he was a very fine pianist, but his ability with most keyboard instruments was just super. We also found he was a very good arranger, and he took a song my fellow classmate had written on guitar, and arranged it, additionally, for four-part harmony and piano.
I’ll not forget Ken Joyal. He was a strong influence in my life.

  9. CandleImageKen was our choir director at East High School in the 70’s. He was a fantastic musician and encouraged all of us. We held a high respect for him. After graduating East and joining the military , I would come back to find Ken in Pueblo and we would talk about music and life. Thank you for being a teacher and a friend. God bless you and your family.

  10. CandleImageMr. Loyal was my orchestra teacher at Corwin Middle School in the 80’s. He was a kind and patient teacher. He helped me so much to hone my skill playing the violin. He will be missed.

  11. I am so sorry for Ken’s passing. He was a talented organist and a gentle soul. His love of that fabulous organ was infectious and his love of humankind even moreso. He helped the musicians who played with him, play better, and enriched the church services with his musical support. Ken had a generous heart and will be missed by all who experienced his kindness. Thank you, Ken!
