Memories Timeline

  1. CandleImageJohn Dorsch was a marvelous and under-appreciated professor, as well as a dear colleague in the Biology Department at CSU Pueblo. He was a fountain of knowledge and gave me valuable advice during our time together there. He will be missed. May he live on in the fond memories of the many students he trained. My sincere condolences to his friends and family.

  2. So sad to hear of John’s passing. My office was down the hall from his in the CSUP Biology Dept. He always had a funny story to tell. He was an excellent instructor and advisor.
At First Presbyterian Church he had a cheerful greeting for all. He and Helen were a great team.
    Sincere sympathy to his family.

  3. Dr. Dorsch taught my sister and I at SCSC, his courses were dreaded but coveted. And his Anatomy lab was legendary! He was gruff and funny and never afraid to speak his mind–a true inspiration– none like him. My sister, Carolyn was inspired by him to go on and get her PhD in medical physiology and then taught at USC and eventually taught medical school. He has a legacy of students! It hurts to hear he is gone. My heart goes out to his family…

  4. John Dorsch was an extraordinary person. He was a great college professor and always had the joke or funny story for each day. He worked hard in every endeavor that he faced. A greast family man. He had many hobbies thast kept him busy, especialy scouting, duck hunting, lapidary, and many other avenues. John received the Silver Beaver award for his service to Scouting the highest award given to a volunteer for going above and beyond what was asked of him. I spent many days with him in the duck blind and his dog Oden. We spent countless times working at San Isabel Scout Ranch with him and sons John and James. May God rest your soul
    with Helen.

  5. Helen, John, Jim and families, Bob and I were so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. We often think of our summers together swimming eating and visiting. Your dad was one of Bob’s favorite professors in college. According to Bob he was tough but good. He will be missed by many. Again, our sincere condolences. Bob & Carol Centa.

  6. CandleImageJohn was on of my most beloved professors. He guided me into my degree and always kept an eye on me. May he rest in peace forever. Thank you Mr Dorsch.

  7. CandleImageThis is such a loss of impact to me. A real friend I often thought of him quickly but firmly. We served on many committees together most memorably the academic standards committee; he was chair of that committee. He was a firm yet smooth personality and had a wonderful sense of humor. John had a remarkable intelligence and one could easily say he was way up there, but to his friends and students he was a reasonable person. God is receiving a choice soul to help him. He is also a good student.

  8. I am sorry to read the news on Dr. Dorsch’s passing. He was my favorite professor at USC and I think of him and his lessons often. I had met him again later on at the church for an Alzheimer’s presentation and shared memories of our loved ones who were affected. May he sleep well knowing he made a difference.

  9. CandleImageI am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. John was an amazing person, and I am blessed to have known him and witness the love he had for his family. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
