Born in: Pueblo, Colorado
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

John Aguilar, 93, of Colorado City, passed away on Dec 28, 2022. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esther Aguilar; children, Ronald Aguilar, Esther Anne Fern, Juan Aguilar, and Sara Aguilar; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John grew up in Raton, NM. He graduated from U.N.M with a degree in chemical engineering and later, earned a second degree in civil engineering from T.S.J.C and retired from the Colorado Dept. of Transportation. He served in the US Army, National Guard, and the Army Reserve, earning the rank of Major. He was a kind, generous, and loving man with a poetic soul who was devoted to his family. He loved poetry, Mexican music, working outside, having coffee and donuts with his best friend, and dancing in the kitchen with his sweetheart. Witty and charming (and boy, would he love that he was described as such), he made friends everywhere he went. He always had a story to entertain and a big smile to welcome you. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. “To be so loved is a divine prayer.” A special thank you to Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their compassionate care. Services will be held at a later date. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com

  1. My heart goes out to everyone in the family. It is hard to lose the last of that generation of the long lived Aguilars. I am at a loss for words. Too many memories of my childhood and the part my Tio played. I love you all. He will be missed.

  2. So much of Ronnie’s face in that picture of John as a young man. I first met the Aguilar’s when I was 15 years old. I will be 62 soon. I am remembering a morning so long ago, having breakfast on the porch in Judith’s Fancy and John (Mr Aguilar) drawing everyone’s attention to a double rainbow that ended right in the driveway. A small miracle. John was hands down, the funniest person I have ever known. His life was a gift to all who knew him. My most heartfelt condolences to the entire family.

  3. What a beautiful soul…John had love and humor in his heart. I met John at church and his sweetheart Ester. Both Loved the Lord with all their Hearts and taught their children to do the same. May John Rest In Peace and your wife and children find comfort in God. I care….❤️❤️….keep dancing…
