James Riley “Jim” Duren Sr, 83, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025. Jim was born on April 23, 1941, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Ruby Fern (Harris) Duren and Riley Alonzo Duren. Preceded in death by his sister, Essie Fern Wright and his wife, Margaret (Gattis) Duren. Survived by his children: James R (Kathryn) Duren Jr of Pueblo West; Robert L (Jody) Duren of Pueblo; 5 Grandchildren: Jamie Rice, Miranda (David) Duren-Trujillo, Riley (Serena) Duren, Robert Duren Jr and Kayleigh Warren; 12 Great Grandchildren: Madalyn, Dane Jr, Adrian, Aubrie, Eli, Erin, Ariana, Zyler, Zarek, Zage, Nirvana, and Ambrose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim attended Central High school in Pueblo, CO. He worked for CF&I Steel Mill in Pueblo for 24 years and owned Fast Wheels Bicycle Shop before retiring from CF&I Steel Mill and moving to Lexington, Kentucky. In Kentucky Jim married his second wife Maggie and worked for Ruskin Manufacturing before retiring for good and returning to Pueblo to be near his family. Jim was an accomplished bowler and avid Denver Broncos fan. He enjoyed going to the stock car races with his sons, as well as fishing, hunting, playing softball and taking care of his yard and flowers.
Per Jim’s wishes, cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium and no formal services. A celebration of life will be held on March 9, 2025, from 11a to 1p at Hampton Inn & Suites Pueblo North 4790 Eagleridge Circle, Pueblo, CO 81008. Please wear Denver Broncos or casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1920 Valley Dr., Pueblo, CO 81008.
