Helen O. Centa, 98, passed away on Oct. 13, 2024. She is survived by her children, Robert (Carol) Centa, Patricia Stanifer, and William (Diana) Centa; sister, Betty Stice; grandchildren, Yvonne Centa, Roberta Centa, Stephanie (Robert) Montoya, Scott (Sarah) Stanifer, Lindsay (Doug) Kuxhausen, and Kyle Stanifer; step-grandchildren, Dustin Knuth, and Cody Knuth; great-grandchildren, Shelby Cortese, Andrew Cortese, Hamish Lindsey, Lucy Montoya, Presley Montoya, London Stanifer, Jake Kuxhausen, Mason Kuxhausen, and Taylor Kuxhausen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Centa; parents; sister, Josephine Skull; brothers, Anton (Sally) Skull and William Skull; and son-in-law, Rick Stanifer.

Helen was born to Anton and Josephine (Strah) Skull on July 29, 1926, in Pueblo, Colo. She was a homemaker and great cook, bookkeeper for the farm and was proud of being independent. She lived without her husband for 32 years. During the last part of her life, Helen had special caregivers with her 24 hours a day. The family sends appreciation for their wonderful care of our mom and grandmother.

Helen enjoyed helping her husband run the farm and cooking his favorite meals, traveling, helping raise her grandchildren, going to church and participating in church functions, and was a volunteer at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital. She enjoyed keeping her home and yard spotless and perfect. Helen delighted going to eat with special friends, Jim & Jody Papish, Ray & Mazie Vertovec for their birthday club.

There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at St Joseph Church, 1145 S. Aspen Rd. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1320 Fortino Blvd Ste. C, Pueblo, CO 81008 or the charity of your choice.
