GEORGINA FRANCES WOODWARD KELLY
The family of Georgina Frances Woodward Kelly of Pueblo, Colorado, announces her passing on January 17, 2025.
Georgina was born November 7, 1942, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Margaret and Lumen Woodward. Georgina grew up with one brother, L. Barry Woodward, and cousin, Reta Lou (Jim) Black.
Georgina graduated from Centennial High School in 1960. She received a music scholarship offer from the University of New Mexico. However, just two months after graduation, she chose to remain in Pueblo and married high school sweetheart, John Kelly. John and Georgina had two children, Rochelle Kelly Wristen and Todd (Laura) Kelly. Her life was devoted to nurturing a beautiful, loving family and establishing her career.
Georgina juggled many roles throughout her life simultaneously and enthusiastically. While raising her children, she established a career in banking with Republic National Bank while managing the books for John’s business, sewing clothes for the family, making home cooked dinners, and being Rochelle and Todd’s biggest fan.
After just one year of retirement pursuing her passion on the golf course, she started her second career in aerospace with McDonnell Douglas (now United Launch Alliance – ULA). By the time she retired from United Launch Alliance, Georgina had risen to a project manager position working directly with U.S. Air Force leadership. While Georgina never completed a degree from an institution of higher education, she achieved two impressive careers thanks to her dedication, work ethic, character, strength, intelligence and integrity.
The biggest blessings in Georgina’s life came with her grandchildren: Dex DeVargas, Trent Kelly (Kierstyn Morgan) and Jillian Kelly. She and John passionately followed and supported them and their activities, sports, music and careers. When the grandchildren were not in Pueblo, she and John would travel to visit and support them in person or online, thanks to the internet and social media. Dex, Trent and Jillian were treated to Georgina’s special “Nana Bucks” often.
Georgina was the mother and nana who was at every activity or event her children and grandchildren participated or competed in: sports, rodeo, dance, music, and 4-H to name a few.
For all who were blessed to meet her during her wonderful journey through life, the world feels a little less bright without the light that radiated from her movie star smile, and her inexhaustible love. Georgina never knew a stranger. She shared her incredible kindness, care, and understanding to everyone she met, and everyone who had the opportunity to work with her, golf with her, socialize with her, or simply be a part of her amazing life.
Georgina was actively involved in CSU Pueblo Pack Club, Desert Hawk Ladies Golf League, PEO, Fair Ladies, Daughters of the Nile, Daughters of the American Revolution and was a tireless coordinator of the Class of1960 Centennial Bulldog reunions.
Ever the sports fans, Georgina and John have been enthusiastic supporters of CSU Pueblo athletics. Georgina was always fond of the long snapper position on the football field. Anyone who ever attended a CSU Pueblo football event knows that Georgina was going to ask about the long snapper. In her honor, Georgina’s family has created a scholarship specifically for the long snapper position at CSU Pueblo in her name. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that gifts be made to the CSU Pueblo Foundation for the Georgina “George” Kelly Long Snapper Scholarship at 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, CO 81001, or call (719) 549-2251.

A Celebration of Life for Georgina will be held February 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Pueblo Community College, Fortino Ballroom, 900 W. Orman Ave., with Pastor Mike Paschall officiating.

Goodbye, Georgina. I will always remember our time on the golf course even though par was my dream that never happened. We had a good time no matter what the score was. I hope the courses in heaven are great.
Georgina will always be remembered for the classy lady she was…inside and out.

Seventy years is a long time to maintain a friendship but I could always count on a smile and cheerful word from my Greenwood Avenue chum decades after we no longer lived in the ‘hood. I will continue to cherish the opportunity to have known her and hope to meet her again at a drugstore in Heaven which still has a counter!
I only knew her for the last few years while she was sick. I will never forget her grace and sparkle for everyone else during that time. She was always so positive. I will so miss the life lesson she portrayed by her actions. She is one in a million

She was a lovely lady. A great Friend we followed our kids through school and activities. Then our granddaughters play volleyball together where we enjoyed time cheering the Centennial Bulldogs. She was the most amazing seamstress, not only did she sew but design an entire wardrobe for my daughter. We are so thankful for her friendship and our family friendship and adventures. Prayers and hugs for her family. Thankful for the great memories.

Dear Kelly family.
I think of Georgina so very often. I had a dream about her the other night. We were at Walt’s Wharf in Seal Beach, California. We had eaten there I think a few times. Every time I was with her ..it was a party. No matter what was going on..we lived in that moment just enjoying each others company. Now those are fond memories. I will treasure her always. My sincere condolences to your family.

I met Georgina in high school when we were in Tri C together. She was such fun. I remember the silly songs she taught us and that we all sang together. She approached me at Wally Latimer’s celebration of life just a year ago and we reminisced about old times together.

My mother Rose Shaddy was so fond of Georgina. they worked together @ the bank back in the day. Mom said they had so many great times. I loved your mama too, we all did. What a class act. Condolences to Todd Rochelle and family, also Laura. She sure put up a fight. Our dad passed about 12 years, he also had cancer and was a fighter. May she rest in peace with our Lord.
We enjoyed many a laugh playing in our couples league with Georgina and John. She will be missed by many!

Your wife and mom was such a good human. As a small kid always watching Todd’s games and wanting to be like him, I would run into Mrs. Kelly often. She would always greet me with a huge smile and a hug. As I think back to those days the words kind and classy come to mind. She was both every interaction I had with her.

My deepest sympathy, I have fond memories from the saddle club.
“George” was indeed a lovely lady! She loved her family deeply and took great pride in each (especially those grandkids). I met George through golf at Desert Hawk and we enjoyed many rounds together including partnering in the Indian Shootout. I appreciate her friendship and admire her firm faith in God and the as she battled her cancer. Prayers for John and family for comfort and knowledge that she is at peace.
