Betty Jean (née Talbot) Schmidt, 80, of Pueblo West, passed away April 3, 2012. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Oscar 'Ozzie' Schmidt; children, Daniel (Jean) Schmidt of Pueblo and Jeanette Losavio of Lake Como, Italy; granddaughter, Melissa Losavio of Denver. Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Alice Vaughan and son-in-law, Joseph Losavio.

Betty was 10 years older than me and I thought she was the prettiest and most wonderful big cousin a little girl could ever have. I missed her so much when I was about 5 years old and didn’t see her any more. The years intervened as I grew up and I only chatted with her once over a year ago. What a thrill for me!
My sympathies to each and every one of you who were so loved by her. She spoke so lovingly and proudly of you all. Your lives were enriched by such a gift. God bless you!

I have many wonderful memories growing up with your family. Such as the calm voice your mom had even when getting the fly swatter, and on a hot day a cold glass of ice tea was great. When she would fix my hair when my dad could not do it. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
