Betty Jean Ashley, 93, passed away Jan. 18, 2024. Survived by children, Richard ( Roberta) Ashley, Sherry Daoedsjah, Debbie (James) Valdez and Gail ( Tom) Wilson; grandchildren, Thomas Ashley, Shane (Tracy) Ashley, Chad ( Jolene) Ashley, Brant ( Cali) Ashley, Kayla Ashley (Sean Treanor), Rosie ( Matt) Godden, Rachel (Damon) Thompson, Richard (Megan) Daoedsjah, Raymond (Candace) Daoedsjah, Ryan Daoedsjah, Reed ( Megan) Daoedsjah, Aaron (Jill) Valdez, Amber (Travis) Bliss, Jeremy ( Katie) Wilson and Ashley Wilson; 24 great-grandchildren and one due in March; and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, Thomas M. Ashley; daughter-in-law, Carol Ashley; son-in-law, Fendi Daoedsjah; parents, Jesse and Ruth McCurry; brothers, Mick, Art and Earl; sisters, Bessie, Dorothy and Donna; and granddaughter; Anna Ashley.
Betty was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Canon City, Colo. She worked at the Colorado State Hospital and worked in promotions at The Brass Ass Casino in Cripple Creek, Colo. from age 75 to 82. She enjoyed gambling, puzzles and crosswords.
Betty was an amazing seamstress and made dresses for her daughters, granddaughters and their Barbie dolls. She also made prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and wedding dresses. Betty was a legend in Pueblo because she was a talented seamstress.
Funeral service, 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. Please wear red to the services, because that was Betty’s favorite color.

    Sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. I am really glade that I was able to visit with her a few years ago when I was in Pueblo. We had a very nice visit, since it had been several years since I visited her last. As long as there are happy memories she will never be totally gone.
