With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph Calkins, affectionately known as Danny, on April 8, 2025. Born on December 12, 1971, in Pueblo, Colo., Danny lived a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Danny is lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Lynn, his cherished children Danielle (Shawn) Calkins, Megan (Tony) Calkins, and his son Daniel Calkins, Jr. He also leaves behind his sister Roberta (Jaime) Calkins-Mendoza, brother Ben Calkins, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Calkins, his mother, Mary Calkins, and his brothers Michael and Manuel Calkins, Danny’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Danny was born and raised in Pueblo, Colo. He graduated from County High School in 1990. He loved playing football and frequently reflected on his high school years. There, he made some of his best friends for life. Family was Danny’s greatest joy and source of pride. As a devoted father, he was the biggest supporter of his children, whether cheering on “the boy” at games, listening to Megan in band performances, or applauding Danielle as she cheered in high school. He took immense pride in their love of math and celebrated all of their achievements, cherishing the wonderful individuals they have become.
Known for his unwavering work ethic, Danny took pride in a job done well and right. His kindness and generosity extended beyond his family, touching the lives of friends and acquaintances alike. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit of generosity.
A celebration of Danny’s life will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. In honor of Danny’s love for the Raiders, the family invites attendees to wear Raiders attire, although they understand if that’s not possible given we live in Colorado.
