Elizabeth, Colorado
Resided in:

On Thursday January 30, 2025, at the age of 90, Raymond Doan Seybold went on to spend eternity with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ray was born in Elizabeth CO on December 21, 1934. He was the fourth of five children born to Casper and Norma Seybold. Ray’s parents were in the sawmill business and moved from Elizabeth to Palmer Lake to Silver Cliff, establishing sawmills in each location. They were a hard-working family and once they settled in Silver Cliff, they became quite successful. Being one of the few government contractors during WW2, the Seybold’s were able to have lots of scarce resources such as sugar and automobiles. One day, while delivering firewood to local homes, Ray noticed a girl outside the Schulze home in coveralls. The girl ran inside so as not to be seen as a Tom Boy, but Ray wasn’t fooled and commented, “I didn’t know the Schulze’s had a girl.” That girl, Leotus Schulze, later became his life-long companion and the two were married on September 11, 1953. Before her passing on Dec. 2,2023, Ray and Leotus celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Ray worked briefly in construction and for the railroad but mostly for the original Frontier Airlines. In Ray’s 17-year career at Frontier, he progressed from Ramp Agent to Manager of Operations (over 50 Stations). During this time, he and Leotus raised 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl). They moved the family 23 times to 5 different states, eventually ending up in Pueblo (CO), where they have lived for the last 58 years. In Pueblo, he made a shift from the corporate world to full-time business owner in 1972 where he started multiple businesses including: Hertz Rental Agency, Zook Tire Shop, Ray’s Travel Service, R&L Auto Sales, Car Doctor, Scripture Supply Store and Ray’s Truck Plaza. He served as President of the Knife & Fork Club, the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and even ran for State Senator and County Commissioner.
At one point, Ray had a serious health problem, which no one could diagnose. While in the waiting room of the Mayo Clinic, he picked up a copy of “Good News for Modern Man”, which ultimately lead to his accepting Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. It was later determined that he only needed Thyroid medication, but God used this health issue to bring Ray to Himself. Ray served as a lay leader at churches where he was a faithful member: Bethany Lutheran, First Baptist, and Majestic Baptist. He even volunteered his time and resource to for the construction of Majestic Baptist in Pueblo West.
He is survived by his son (Ron Seybold & wife DeAnn), his son (Gordon Seybold & wife Gwen), his daughter (Thelma Mueller & husband Jim), his 11 grandchildren, his 22 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Leotus, his dad & mom (Casper & Norma), His siblings (Harold Seybold, Delores Koch, Darlein Bauer and Kenny Seybold) and his great grandson (Jace Schwindt).
His Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 22nd at 11:00am at Majestic Baptist Church.

We are so grateful for having Ray and Leotus in our lives. I learned so many things from Ray and we talked about the automotive industry and things that were going on in our lives. We had our laughs and we had our sorrows. We talked republican politics. Their values reflected in their children that they loved with all their heart! Thank you lord for blessing me with the Seybold family 🙏 Gordon and Thelma are hard working and pillars of the community and Ray would talk about them and his eyes would water and his voice would crackle with pride! You will truly be missed!
Sending love and prayers for you and your family, Thelma.♥️🙏
Ray and Leotus were wonderful next door neighbors. We miss them both so much and send heartfelt condolences to all.
You will be missed. You helped the local Republican Party in many ways. Sorry you left us—
