Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. CandleImageMoving to Pueblo from Denver and to Aberdeen Bluffs, Chuck was one of the first residents I met. I remember driving into the development passing Chuck in the driveway chucking corn husks off for dinner. He and Rosemary welcomed us into the neighborhood. Always a lot of fun being around them.

  2. CandleImageIf I were to list the most influential mentors in my life, Mr. Sekera would be in the top three. I remember his classroom and his teaching with joy and inspiration. He taught us to think differently and independently. His lessons always a surprise, filled with ideas that stimulated curiosity and wonder. I carry these lessons in my heart and tried to utilize them in my own teaching. Love and blessings to his family. Mr. Sekera, may you bring light, joy, lessons and laughter in the next realm. I am sure Rosemary, Neta, my mom Bernice are welcoming you with joy and expectation for many moments of exploration of new ideas and pathways.

  3. Mr. Sekera was my seventh grade english teacher at Pitts Middle School. I always felt that, he saw me & realized what I needed. Rosemary was my first grade teacher, at Goodnight Elementary. I always enjoyed, seeing them around town. We always discussed politics. May he rest in peace! 🕊

  4. My deepest condolences to Leslie, Greg, Chris and your entire immediate and extended family. Your mom and dad were a breath of fresh air when we were growing up. I learned about life and strong traditional values in a non-traditional fashion. Chuck’s hip living/stereo room just inside your front door with the big JBL speakers and reel to reel sound system. Your mom’s spicy, canned homemade pickles. Duke’s protective bark followed by your mom’s infectious laugh. Meanwhile Chuck would sit back, roll his eyes, shake his head or even bless us with a classic “Chuck-ism”. When he spoke, you’d better be listening, or you would certainly miss out on a memorable one liner.

I considered it a blessing in May, 2021 when I ran into them at Latronica’s, with my youngest daughter for the last time. My daughter said, “I bet their pretty cool grandparents”. She nailed it !

Thank you so much for putting the service online. I watched it last night with a tear in my eye at times, but more often with a good belly laugh. I sure hope the good sisters heard Chuck’s comment about being “Nunned Up”!

May God Bless and keep these two. Pueblo will not be the same without them!

Thoughts and prayers from the entire Kocman family.

  5. We both miss Chuck and Rosemary greatly. They were the best of friends, and their commitment to their community was an example of pure selflessness. We remember their senses of humor and their smiles often. They were great neighbors and great citizens.

  6. Chuck remains one of my fondest memories! He and I were fraternity brothers at the University of Northern Colorado, he was a member of my wedding and he and Rosemary traveled with my wife Bea and me. He will remain fondly in my memories.

  7. CandleImageGreg, Chris, and Leslie: My Condolences, I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad. I have so many great memories of being at your house in my younger days. Your parents were always very thoughtful and welcoming, they will forever be in my heart. My prayers are with you and your families during this tough time.

  8. CandleImageTo the family of Chuck,

It is with sadness hearing that my cousin, Chuck, passed away. I remember the fun times in Turtle Creek, PA, when the cousins would get together at Uncle Charlie and Aunt Esther’s house by the many brick steps down to Oak Avenue. Their house was very nice and the milk
    delivery opening was unique.

Cousin Chuck called me a few years ago to wish me a Happy Birthday as he thought my birthday was the same as his, but mine is in the seventh. We had a very nice conversation!

I moved to Pensacola, FL from Penn Hills, PA many years after Chuck, Judy and Raymond moved to CO with their parents. Before that, I lived in
England, then Alaska. Now, I’m back in Pensacola.

My friend, Pam, has a son who lives in CO and wanted to fly me to CO to visit her son and I told her I wanted to see my cousins, also. This was after COVID. Our trip never happened.

My heart aches that I never got to visit with Chuck and meet Rosemary and their children and to see Judy.

My prayers are with Chuck’s family.
    🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You all were blessed with having
    incredible parents.

    Love, Gladys ‘GG’ Sekera Goss

We texted for a short time.

  9. Thank you Chuck for your kindness and friendship while I student taught at Pitts. I loved our friendship that developed. You’ll be happy to know that I had a long 33 years in education thanks to your mentorship. Rest in Peace, dear friend. Dan Roque

  10. CandleImageLeslie, Greg and Chris – my deepest condolences. Your dad was always quick with a smile or a kind word. I truly enjoyed being in his (and your mom’s) company. He always seemed to make the day brighter. Sending you love and hugs – JR

  11. Dear Leslie, Greg, and Chris,
We Genovas have such good memories of time spent with your mom and dad and you kids.
    Diane, and Christopher and Carrie

  12. Clif Smith

I will always remember our wonderful times together. What fun we had together going to lunch.
We also shared years of teaching together in District 60.

  13. Dear Leslie. Greg, and Chris,
We Genovas have such wonderful memories of time spent with your parents and you kids.
    Diane, Christopher, and Carrie

  14. Chuck and Rosemary were some of Pueblo’s finest. Gentlepeople, kind, generous, brilliant, and true-blue. Rest in God’s peace. John and Sherry

  15. My cousin Chuck; engaged in life and present until the (sadly) sudden end. We had a phone chat just the day before he passed away. You’ll never know how thankful I am that I returned his call to me. It’s a memory I will forever cherish. Thank you, Leslie, for making his final trip back home to Pittsburgh happen. It was a gift for us all.

  16. Mr. Sekera was a great teacher and probably provided the most influence on my education, of any teacher I had.
His classroom was always a peaceful sanctuary, admist the maddness of East High School in the 70’s!

  17. Chuck and Rosalie were such a sweet couple! We have missed seeing them around town since your dear Mom passed and Chuck moved. They were always smiling and were so fun! They were a blessing to all who knew them.
Our prayers are with you all.

  18. Chuck was my classmate at St. Francis de Sales way back in the 50’s. In home room we were seated alphabetically, so my last name being Slattery, we were usually seated just in front of or behind each other. Those were the days! As our 70th anniversary of graduation from high school approaches it is with fond memories I remember Chuck. May he rest in Peace.

  19. CandleImageMr. Sekera was one of my favorite teachers at Pitts Jr. High way back in the 60’s. I remember going to his house on Halloween for trick or treats! What a great and personable man he was!

  20. Dearest Chaz,

You are one of my all time favorite people. Thank you for the laughs, interesting conversations, and one-of-a-kind acronyms that I still use to this day. My favorite part was knowing you.

Leslie, Greg, and Chris: sending my love and deepest condolences to you and your families.
