Sharon “Sherry” Kaye Koski, 80, was born on July 14, 1943, in Leadville, Colo., and passed away on Dec. 3, 2023, in Pueblo, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Lil Koski of Pueblo; and brothers, Kenneth Koski and Duane Koski.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Jack Selway; nephews, Scott and Brett Koski, and their children; nieces, Sarah Harmon and Laura Mankin and their children; numerous cousins and friends; and she loved her cats, Bunny, Wheeze, and Mimi.

Sherry graduated from Pueblo Central High School class of 1961. She received her nursing certificate from St. Mary-Corwin School of Nursing and then worked at UC Denver Medical Center. In 1967, she traveled to San Francisco and worked at UC San Francisco, soon after she joined the VA Medical Center, in San Francisco, where she served until 1998. She was a steady and reliable worker for all of her life, becoming Associate Chief of Nursing for a large part of the VA hospital.

Sherry had many longtime friends, from school, nursing, and church. She was an accomplished cook and often entertained with lavish home parties. She traveled the world and lived a full life.

  3. I first met Sherry when we were in junior high school at Keating. She was a good friend of my sister, Susan, at that time but throughout Sherry’s lifetime as well. She was sweet and kind, always smiling.

  8. Pearle Sandstrom-Smith and Clif Smith will miss Sherry. The world will be a darker place without the light of Sherry. She was the definition of joy in the world. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is now out of pain and loss. She will light up the heavens ! She leaves a loving partner in her life in Jack who holds wonderful memories and eternal love for her.
