Celebration of Life:

Cody Allen Hiner, 19, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on Sept.1, 2023. Survived by his parents, Ray and Debi Hiner; sisters, Kendra Behrens and Jessica (JR) Allen; grandparents, Charles (Cindy) Hiner and Jackie Hiner of Lamar, Colo.; great-grandma, Mecca Schnieder of Lamar; uncles, Jack Hiner of Lamar and Grant Ellenson of Pinewood, Minn.; and close cousin, Shawn Hiner of Lamar, and had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma.
A special remembrance goes out to Leslie (Don) Sandoval – Mestas and their family. The love over the years from Monica, Angela and Vivian made him feel part of their family.
Preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis (Patricia) Ellenson of Bemidji, Minn.; aunts, Karen Vernetti and Tina Schnieder; and lifelong pets, Oscar and Tabbie. Special remembrance to his “Poppo” Don Sandoval, they shared a lifelong special bond.
Born Dec. 3, 2003, he spent his youth trail riding, camping and fishing. In his teen years, he enjoyed four-wheeling and hunting. His special talent became working on diesel trucks with his Dad and their close friend, Jay Lohrmeyer.
He graduated from Pueblo County High School in 2022, after dedicating his time and efforts to the JROTC, absorbing all the program had to offer – he lettered all four years. Upon graduation, he began working at Agalite Bath and Shower Enclosures.
Cody always had a smile on his face and would offer help to anyone in need.
Visitation, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, followed at 3 p.m. by the funeral service. Both the viewing and service will be held in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel.   5. I didn’t know Cody very well but the few times that we talked he seemed like a good kid. He was respectful with a good work ethic. I only wish I could have got to know him better.
